Joey has worked at the intersection of science and business his entire career. Before co-founding Biologica, he co-founded Allbirds in 2015, and was its CEO until 2024, leading its IPO on the NASDAQ in 2021 (BIRD). Prior to Allbirds, he led the renewable chemicals division at the biotechnology company, Terravia (fka, Solazyme – NASDAQ: SZYM) as its Vice President of Industrial Products, after stints as an investor and advisor at Industry Ventures, Deloitte Consulting, and Goldman Sachs. He currently invests in the startup ecosystem as a General Partner at Good Friends, an early-stage venture capital firm. Joey earned a BS in Industrial Engineering from UC Berkeley, and an MBA from The Wharton School.
