Mohammed Alshaya is Executive Chairman of the Alshaya group of companies, a family trading business founded in 1890 in Kuwait, and Chairman of Mabanee Company SAK, Kuwait’s largest real estate company by market cap.
Today, Alshaya partners with over 90 of the world’s most recognised retail brands across the Middle East, North Africa, Russia, Turkey and Europe, including Victoria’s Secret, Starbucks and H&M, to operate over 4,100 stores across diverse sectors: Fashion & Footwear, Health, Beauty, Food, Optics, Pharmacy, Home Furnishings and Leisure & Entertainment. Alshaya employs more than 60,000 people from over 120 nationalities.
Mr. Alshaya is an honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) and a member of the International Business Advisory Council for London.
He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Arab Thought Foundation and the International Leadership Board of Cleveland Clinic. He holds a BA in Marketing from Kuwait University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business where he is a member of the Board of Overseers.
