Omar El Hamamsy

Omar El Hamamsy joined Orascom Development Holding in September 2020 as the Group Chief Executive Officer. ODH is a publicly listed company on the Zurich stock exchange (SIX) with operations in 7 countries in Europe and the Middle East with the Sawiris family as the anchor investor. Before joining ODH, El Hamamsy was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company based in Dubai. Throughout his 18 years at McKinsey, he led many practices includingTelecom, Tech, Travel and Transport. He led many comprehensive transformations of multi national and regional companies in the Middle East and Europe. He also worked on a number of cross border acquisitions and integrations for sovereign wealth funds. Prior to joining McKinsey, El Hamamsy worked for six years at AT&T’s Bell Labs in the US, where he was managing a global engineering team for wireless product development. El Hamamsy holds a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University . He sits on the regional Board of Directors of “ Injaz Al Arab”, a member of Junior Achievement Worldwide and a non profit organization focused on youth education. He is married and has 3 children and is a private pilot in his free time.
