Philipp Carlsson-Szlezak is BCG’s Global Chief Economist and a Managing Director & Partner in the firm’s New York office.
Philipp’s research is widely published in top business journals and op-ed pages, covering the cyclical macroeconomic outlook as well as structural themes. He spends the other half of his time presenting and discussing macroeconomics in boardrooms.
Philipp is co-author of Shocks, Crises, and False Alarms (Harvard Business Review Press, 2024), a Financial Times Best Books of the Year. His commentary and views are regularly sought out by global news outlets, conferences, and leading podcasts.
Philipp was previously Chief Economist at Sanford C. Bernstein, where his coverage of the economy and markets earned top-tier recognition in the Institutional Investor survey. Earlier in his career, he spent more than ten years advising financial institutions and governments at BCG, the OECD, and McKinsey & Company.
Philipp has a BSc in Economics from LSE and a PhD from Oxford.
